Creating/Editing a Page
The first step is creating a page, that can be done two ways:
1. Type in the page name you want in the address bar
(i.e. http://unturned.wikidot.com/whatever-page-name-you-want <- Do NOT use this link, it's just an example. Dashes can be replaced by spaces as they work the same way)
2. On the right side of the screen is a sidebar. You can add a text in the new page section to create a new page.
(i.e. (Input) "whatever-page-name-you-want" and it will create it to http://unturned.wikidot.com/whatever-page-name-you-want)
If you want to edit a page that's already been created, find that wiki page and scroll down to the bottom of it. There should be an "Edit" button Click on the Edit button in order to edit the page.
Please keep in mind that there are some pages (such as the sidebar, the Site Members page, the homepage, etc.) that cannot be edited by normal wiki editors. Please feel free to PM a staff member if you're unsure.
The second step is understanding how to templates are:
2. Past items, vehicles, and so on have the general idea of how the templates are done. You can use templates (created by administrators) when creating a new page and opening the template drop down menu. Templates way be changed overtime and items will need to be updated to fit it.
Q: How can I find the information like 'Player Damage' or 'Animal Damage'?
A: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Unturned\Bundles
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Unturned\Bundles\Items\Melee\Axe_Camp\Axe_Camp.dat (Would be where you get damage information)
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Unturned\Bundles\Items\Melee\Axe_Camp\English.dat (Would be where you get item name and description)
Similar thing can be done for finding icons of the items.
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Unturned\Extras\Icons
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Unturned\Extras\Econ
[/<insert name> <Insert Name>]
(i.e) [/items Items]
can be used to directly link a unturned.wikidot link.
At the end of editing a page, you should leave a short description of changes. It will help future editors and players know what has changed overtime from updates or been fixed from a typo/error.
Every item/object/etc should have it's own page. Unless specified by the moderator+ team. An example is some vehicles like Offroader or Hatchback, it has multiple colors so it's listed all on one page with IDs to Color.
Templates
Templates are straightforward. It gives the wiki editors quick access to the way the wiki information system.
If you have any trouble or questions, check out previous related inputs then contact a staff member if you continue to have any problems.
Parenting
Parenting pages (like tags) helps keep the wiki organized, and they also play in a role in making some of our automatically-updating pages, index lists, and other functions around the wiki work. This section will be explaining how it's done.
To set a parent on a page, do the following steps:
1. Click Options (located at the bottom of the page)
2. Click Parent
3. Enter the page you wish to parent to
4. Click "Save".
You can only parent to pages that currently exist, so be careful of any typos you might make.
(i.e) [/bow-barrel] Bow Barrel parenting is shown as:
Items » Attachments » Barrels » Bow Barrel
It should always parent back to the main topic which is shown on the top bar menu.
(Homepage, Items, and so forth)
Images
Images that can be found in game files are required to be used instead of screenshot. Images like animals and vehicles have to be screenshot from in-game. It's recommended to get it from multiple angles and with good lighting.
Creating a testing map in the map editor and adding spawns or objects is the best way to achieve that image.
Use .png files as they are the best looking and can handle transparency.
Uploading images to websites such as Imgur (Keeps images forever - until it is requested to be taken down) Copy the direct link then add .png to the end.
Cropping should not be overdone but not left too wide. A few pixel distance between the edge and item/vehicle/etc is good enough. Don't crop it to the edge of the item/vehicle/etc.
